Day 27: Jefferson City, MO to Boonville, MO (65.4 miles)
We got back on the road again after being unable to ride yesterday due to flooding. Using a modified route to stay clear of the Missouri River, we traveled on a combination of paved and gravel back roads. One trouble spot was Miller Ford Road about 7 miles from Jamestown, where the creek was flooded out, forcing us to back track about 5 miles. From Jamestown, we rode to Prairie Home and on to Boonville, a town of 10,000. We’re camping at Harley Park, overlooking the Missouri River (high above, no flooding concern). Entertainment last evening provided by the Boonville Little League, where the red team beat the black team, 16-11 in a pitching duel. After that, we watched “Sandlot” on Dan’s IPad under the pavilion. Looking forward to doing laundry (did I just say that?) tomorrow. So far, we’ve ridden 1436 miles.
