Hello!

I’m following my lifelong dream to ride my bike across the United States.

This blog will document my trek.

Woke up to a temperature of 43 degrees! (The third day of Summer). Started riding about 7:30, bundled up like an early spring ride. Air was crisp, skies sunny, and views were to the horizon. Twenty two miles into the ride, we came to Ault, and stopped at Gray’s Cafe, a real local hangout. (We clearly did not fit in with the cowboy boot crowd, in our bright clothes and tights). I ordered a 2nd breakfast of eggs, hash browns, and toast, and a homemade cinnamon roll. The roll was huge, with a big glob of butter on it, and warm- very tasty. Fortunately, while we we there, Yo and Ber stopped by to help us eat the cinnamon roll. Once leaving Ault, the skies suddenly looked very dark. A storm front came rolling in, we got wind and rain and some hail as well. Once it passed, the ride into the Super 8 near the intersection of Route 14 and I-25 was scenic and pleasant. We got our first look at the Rocky Mountains. A hotel stay today and tomorrow in Fort Collins is vey welcome. Tonight we are at the Super 8 motel, tomorrow we will be staying at a hostel called the Solarium, nearer to the center of Fort Collins.
