Day 42: Sterling, CO to Briggsdale, CO (64.6 miles)
After a great night sleep due to cool temperatures, we headed out at 7:10 am. First town was Sterling, a large working town. An interesting sight was a train full of windmill vanes, which are massive. Continuing on Route 14, the next towns were Stoneham and New Raymer before reaching our destination of Briggsdale and the Crow Valley Campground, which is located on the Pawnee National Grasslands. The campground does not have showers, but Dan, the leader, was able to get a high school official to open the school for us. Nothing like a hot shower, I always say! The ride today did not have many hills, however, the incline was steady, and by days end, we were at 4915 ft in elevation. One other noteworthy stop was the Pawnee Station Restaurant in New Raymer. I had an excellent Patty Melt there.
