Hello!

I’m following my lifelong dream to ride my bike across the United States.

This blog will document my trek.

Day 50: Jeffrey City, WY to Lander, WY (57.8 miles)

Day 50: Jeffrey City, WY to Lander, WY (57.8 miles)

Cloudy, overcast day in the morning, which was a slight surprise since forecast was for high temps. Left the Community Center with mosquitos swarming us. We were OK as long as we kept moving. Before leaving, I put a “mural” to our bike trip on the wall, just like many others before us. Each person’s name was added. After leaving Jeffrey City, we rode to Sweetwater Station and a surprisingly nice rest stop. After that, we were treated to a 5 mile downhill at a -6% grade. So sweet!!

The landscape became very colorful as we came to Red Canyon Rim, the Blue Ridge, and the Onion Flats. Our destination for the evening was the Sleeping Bear RV park in Yander. I stopped in town to get my bike gears adjusted. A “5 minute” job became 1.2 hrs, but finally the skipping gear issue was fixed. A short, freak wind storm delayed Yo and I from cooking, but we pulled off spaghetti and meat sauce with extra ingredients plus asparagus and corn on the cob. Ice cream for dessert topped off the meal. Just before bed, the group was treated to a beautiful sunset.
