Day 55: Madison Campground at Yellowstone Park, WY (0 miles)
Went fishing on the Gibbon and Madison in the morning before Amy and Jan arrived for a day of sightseeing in Yellowstone Park. First stop was the South Rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. We took a short hike to the base of the Falls, saw a rainbow (from the falls) and 2 large male elk. Next we hiked to Artist’s Point, 2 miles each way. The views were outstanding all along the way.
Following that hike we drove to the Geyser Basin to see a wide variety of geysers on the Prismatic Trail. We drove back to the Madison campground and got caught in some traffic. It took an hour to go 13 miles. Amy and Jan joined the group for dinner, for a second time, and again enjoyed the meal and the group’s friendliness. They left around 7pm for the 2 hr drive back to Moran. (It was a special treat to have Amy and Jan come to Wyoming to see me during the tour. Thanks to both of them!) After they left, I cleaned my bike and got organized, and fished the Madison River again before dark.
