Day 37: Arapahoe, NE to McCook, NE (41.5 miles)
We have reached the halfway point of this epic ride! As of today, the mileage total is 2011 miles! What a large and beautiful country we live in.
Some showers last night and this morning, coupled with a shorter ride day, meant “sleeping in” this morning. Instead of my usual 5 am wake up, I slept until 5:45. After preparing scrambled eggs and steel oats with Yo, we cleaned up and got on the road around 7:40. Stopped in at Shirley K’s coffee shop in Cambridge for 2 donuts and 2 cups of coffee for the price of $2.08! A mile from the shop, I met Glen, a solo rider from Arizona, whose ridden 1100 miles over the last 5 weeks. He joined us for coffee. After our break, the rain was gone and blue skies returned. Following some road construction, we went through Bartley and Indianola before arriving at McCook. We’re staying at a nice Econolodge.
