Hello!

I’m following my lifelong dream to ride my bike across the United States.

This blog will document my trek.

Day 36: Franklin, NE to Arapahoe, NE (59.1 miles)

Day 36: Franklin, NE to Arapahoe, NE (59.1 miles)

Happy Father’s Day! Today was a perfect bike riding day- blue skies, puffy white clouds, pleasant temperature, and light winds. The roads were in great shape and very few cars. So far, Nebraska has been very nice. Leaving Franklin, I found an IPhone on the road within 5 miles of starting. Surprisingly, it still had power and was not locked out. I sent the owner, Tracy Pierce, an email to contact me. Not hearing from her, I left the phone at a Bar & Grill in Bloomington, NE and sent her another note and photo. Hopefully, she gets it. Continuing on the ride, we went through Republican City and Alma. In Alma, I stopped at RJ’s Cafe, a popular spot judging from the crowd there, and had the best Eggs Benedict I’ve ever eaten. Once out of Alma, we visited Orleans, Oxford, and Edison before reaching Arapahoe. We’re staying at South Park City Campground, a new campground intown. In all of the towns mentioned, we attempted to find a cafe/ restaurant with the Women’s World Cup USA vs Chile match. No luck, this is Nebraska Cornhuskers land, not WWC. Fortunately, Team USA won 3-0. Got into camp by 1:30 pm. Yo and I are cooking tonight, but the only open food store is a Dollar General in Arapahoe, so choices are limited. Instead of a Dutch specialty, we’re having egg omelettes.
