Day 41: Holyoke, CO to Sterling, CO (48.5 miles)
After a rainy and windy night in Holyoke, we left town around 7:45 am, headed out on Route 6 and passed through the towns of Paoli, Haxtun, and Fleming before reaching Buffalo Hills RV Park, a couple of miles outside of Sterling by I-76. In Fleming, I stopped and ate lunch across from the tiny Town Hall. There was a sign in the middle of the street announcing “mosquito spraying will occur at 7 pm today”.
Today’s ride was similar to the last several days with farmland, cattle ranches and big open spaces. The terrain was flat but with a good wind from the north, at times we had headwinds, sidewinds, and some tailwinds. Overall, a sweet riding day requiring some effort with the winds.
