Day 64: Syringa, ID to Grangeville, ID (43.0 miles)
After sleeping on a real mattress, we got off to an early start, wanting to get miles in before it got too hot. The first 15 miles of the ride was along the middle fork of the Clearwater River and very scenic. An interesting sight were several cable “cars” which traversed above the Clearwater River.
In Kooskia, we stopped for a second breakfast of Huckleberry Pancakes at the Farm Table Cafe. So good, and Jennifer the cook came out to greet us! Passed through Stites, and Harpster before reaching the 3-1/2 mile climb to Grangeville. The climb was long but did not exceed 8% grade. Tonight’s destination is a Bear Den RV Park just outside of town. Lots of space, nice showers, comfortable.
