Day 58: Dillon, MT to Wisdom, MT (66.3 miles)
After yesterday’s late afternoon headwinds, everyone wanted to get out early. Today’s ride was excellent, with 2 climbs to Big Hole and Badger Passes. The downhills on the backside of both were sweet, with no traffic, smooth roads, and big views. The day was overcast and cool. At mile 14 the route intersected with the Great Mountain Divide Bike Trail. We ate lunch in Jackson (population 38) at the Cantina Rose. After Jackson, the ride was parallel to Big Hole River. Our destination for tonight is Wisdom, MT at the Big Hole RV Park. I pedaled to the Big Hole River, fished for a few minutes, got some hits on a small BWO, but was chased off the river by lightning and a thunderstorm.
