Day 12: Recovery Day in Pittsburgh (0 miles)
After an early afternoon arrival in Pittsburgh yesterday, we spent the afternoon helping Bernadette, from the Netherlands, purchase a new bike at a local bike shop (Thick Bikes). Her old bike was in need of “significant” repair. She’ll be riding a new Surly Disc Trucker in the morning. After dinner we visited The Carson Street Deli and the Urban Tap for terrific local craft brews. This morning required a laundry run to Dirty Frankie’s Laundromat. Seven members of the group went to PNC park to see the Pirates crush the Colorado Rockies, 14-6. We walked back to the hostel from PNC and saw some great views of the city. This is my first visit to downtown Pittsburgh, and it’s been great. Tonight I’m meeting Ibby, Ian’s girlfriend, for dinner.
